Railway stations

The station of Lyon east one of the seven terminals of the network of the SNCF in Paris. It is located in the 12th district.

The station of Lyon is also the terminus of the South-eastern TGV, the Rhone-Alps and the Mediterranean. It is the third station of Paris by its traffic, approximately 83 million travellers per annum. It offers to the travellers correspondences with two lines of the RER (line A and line D) and two subway lines (line 1 and line 14).

The principal entry, on the place Louis-Armand, gives on the street of Lyon (which, itself, gives on the place of the Bastille) and on the Diderot boulevard. This station is characterized by its belfry, high square tower 67 meters and bearing on its four faces of the dials of clock 6,5 m in diameter whose needles of the hours and the minutes respectively measure 2,8 m and 4 Mr. Arrêtée since the storm of December 26, 1999, this clock was restarted on February 15, 2005 (with its mechanism of origin, modernized by a system of motorization and synchronization on the time signal transmitted by France Inter in long waves).


 History
The landing stage of Lyon (I) is officially open to the public the 12 aout1849. It is only one building of boards while waiting for the arbitrations between the French State and the company of the railroad from Paris in Lyon, first of the name. The company of the P.L was little flattered to arrive vis-a-vis the Prison of the New Force known as “Mazas prison”. It hoped to be able to go until the place of the Bastille. The layout was used for the creation of the street of Lyon.

The station of Lyon (II) was built on plans of François-Alexis Cendrier in 1855 like terminus of the lines of the company of the railroad from Paris in Lyon (P.L.) second of the name. This station is built on a lifting of ground from 6 to 8 meters intended to protect it from raw from the Seine. It comprises only 5 covered ways of a large market of 220 meters and broad of 42. A gantry, spanning the entry of the court of the Arrival, on the right, connected the station itself to a building of police headquarters on the side, Building industry X giving on the Mazas boulevard. This station is destroyed partially by a fire at the time of the Commune of Paris in 1871 and is rebuilt with the identical one.

In 1900, the travellers visiting the World Fair of Paris arrive in a new station of Lyon (III) to 13 ways, drawn by the architect Marius Toudoire. It has from now on of a frontage on the Diderot place and a tower of 64 meters high clock. They discover also the first line of the Parisian subway which serves the station.

The building in itself evolves/moves little until the years 1960 and construction line A the new Network Regional Express train Island-of-France. The frontage side street of Bercy and the Bercy market are destroyed, and are dug a station of suburbs (today station of the RER D, and below the station the RER A inaugurated in December 1977.

In 1981, five new ways for the TGV implied special installations.

On June 27, 1988, a serious rail crash in the underground station of suburbs makes 56 dead and 55 wounded.

Last work, which bore the name of Meteor, brings the line 14 to automatic control under the street of Bercy to the foot of the House of the RATP. This open line in 1998 allows today a fast and comfortable transit between the Station of Lyon and the Saint-Lazare Station.


The station is exploited by the Establishment of Exploitation Travellers Paris Gare of Lyon, within area the SNCF South-eastern Paris.

The ways of the station of surface are divided into two zones, ways A with NR, are symbolized by the color blue, and ways 5 to 23, are represented by the yellow color. These two parts of the station not being aligned, the traveller at the beginning can as of his arrival at the station know the group of ways of which its train will leave, and this in order to avoid the great sways in the crowd. The Mediterranean room, which connects the station broad outline to the underground station, is located in lower part of the blue ways, and gives access to the beginning of the yellow ways.

Italie (Artésia): Turin et Milan ;
Des trains Grandes Lignes, principalement les Corail Téoz et Corail à destination de Nevers (12 départs par jour), Clermont-Ferrand (8 départs par jour, certains trains vont jusqu'à Marseille et Béziers) ;
Des TER Bourgogne vers Dijon, Auxerre et le Morvan (Clamecy, Corbigny) ;
Le réseau de banlieue parisienne (Transilien à destination de Montargis (Loiret) et Montereau, en superposition avec des TER Bourgogne vers les premières agglomérations de Bourgogne (Sens, Laroche-Migennes).
